Seems everyone forgot secretary's promise to report to Congress by June the removal action he took for the scheduling debacle.

All I can say is that I do not believe the problem was as widespread as we were led to believe. Hence, the appearance of non-action. Sgt Spencer Sikder, I have dealt and continue to deal with three different VAMCs across the country due to my travels. My medical issues are, well, let's say more than one. My treatments, my appointment scheduling, my labs, my prescriptions have all been exceptional. I suppose there are small pockets of incompetence out there, but I have not encountered them. I have nothing but praise for my VA. Are they swamped? I have seen examples of that. But I'll sit on my ass and wait any day in a VAMC rather than in a civilian hospital waiting room. I KNOW THEY KILL PEOPLE...TO THE TUNE OF A COUPLE HUNDRED THOUSAND EVERY SINGLE YEAR...FACT!!!

In the Midwest, the VAMC's have generally good feedback, with the exception of St. Cloud, MN. Once you get towards the coasts, that's when it starts getting iffy.

I'm in Maine and we have only one VA hospital, Togus. I am quite happy with my care there and at my local "cboc" or clinic. I have multiple needs and multiple specialists and a pcp who gives me all the time I need and manages it all for me. I agree wholeheartedly with SCPO Bowerman, I will take the VA over being offered "civilian" care any day. We have frequent staff changes here and it is a problem, but it has never stopped me from getting care or from continuing any treatment regimen, including pain management.

Unfortunately, after educating themselves on the "Care and Feeding of Civilian Employees" (For Dummies Edition), they realize there is not a whole lot they can do without affecting their own care and feeding, so they opted to "slowly" make it go away, or at least they thought they had...
