I heard on the news that 80% of these refugees were males between 18-24 years old. This suggests to me they are all "fighting" age.

There is no way to distinguish their true motives. I can see how this can potentially be a threat to security and a disaster waiting to happen. The ones that can speak english could have been an interpreter at one point.

Interesting thought for sure. What makes it even harder to differentiate between all involved is that I'm sure there are truly some coming to find a safe haven while others may be using as a smoke screen to something else. Then you add in people's already long-standing lack of trust, fuel is being added to the already blazing fire.

While I hope their intentions are to truly escape and start anew, it will be sometime until we truly know.

I have said this on another thread similar to this one. If you know that an armed invasion will be repelled almost immediately, wouldn't you send in an invasion of 'refugees' in order to get your troops behind the lines before the fighting starts?

It would be an unreal maneuver that honestly deserves some respect while it wrecks havoc, but I don't think it's the case.

People escaping a Nightmare. The vast majority just want to escape to a better life like everyone else. Is it an opportunity for those that wish us harm to sneak in their folks, of course but the vast, vast majority just want Peace and to be left alone which isn't happening back home.

Walk through certain neighborhoods in London or Paris and see what happens if you are not a muslim. There are a lot of videos on youtube of people being attacked in these cities and others. Sharia Law is not compatible with western culture period.

No, I don't believe it is. The best way to conduct sneak terrorist attacks is with people you have in place; they speak the language, look like locals, and they don't stand out. Nidal Hassan is a good example of this. Any migrant or refugee is going to stand out in some way. People will already be looking at them with suspicion (like everyone on this thread).

The path into the EU from these countries is dangerous and there are four international borders they have to cross (for the most popular route through the Balkans). They would have to pay criminal smugglers to sneak them into Europe, usually for about 5,000 euro a head, or they risk deportation from the border guards. And there's no guarantee they'll even make it into the EU and not some refugee camp where the majority would rip them to strips for what they did to their country.

ISIS would be best served keeping their military-aged males on the actual fronts in the middle east; they aren't going to risk such a long-shot gamble when they can just do their recruiting over the internet and pay criminals to facilitate.

The best way to conduct an attack in the EU or the states is to get some disenfranchised kid or lone wolf that doesn't really stand out, teach him to make a bomb, and pick a target. You can do this over the internet, which is what they've been doing. Remember Fort Hood? Remember Boston?

The refugees are more likely to try policing their own because they fear reprisals from locals. Ask any Kosovar that remembers the nineties how they feel about young punks getting fresh when their country is already struggling.

There are many situations that I do believe that are smoke screens for the true harsh realities of what's really going on. As the meme that Col. Gene posted, statistically I would definitely classify this as a threat and be extremely cautious and weary of these people, regardless of there race, religion, or creed. Any group that has that many males and in the prime age bracket age bracket that they are should raise a red flag to the governmental officials. However, a majority of them are civilians that haven't had to asses an enemy threat. The live in a clocke of comfort that we (The U.S. Armed Services) have blanketed over them. This is why I believe every politician should do at least a two year enlistment (plus basic or OCS). So they can look at all situations similar or like this in the same way. Something along the lines of: Asses the situation, come up with a threat analysis, factor in the what "ifs", investigate the individuals (do they all come from where they say, do they all have perfect stories, do they have stories that are similar in nature, etc) and to be a bit cynical about situations like this is to save lives not cost live. Actually it's quite comforting to know that these are in the thoughts of the officers appointed over me, Sir.
