PCS'ing to a slot that is gone on the FY15 MTOE

I am currently on assignment to NATO in Brussels. I have orders, passports, the ball is rolling and I am leaving next month. My question is I checked FMS Web and the 40 slot seems to have gone away. I know I am requisitioned to go there I am just trying to find out what might happen once I get there since the slot will be gone. Any insight would be appreciated if someone has gone through this particular set of events.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member, are you going into AFNORTH or part of another unit? IF the 40 slot is going away next FY, you may just get slotted in another 40 position. In my unit for example, we have slots all over Europe and if one "falls off," our S1 will "re-slot" the SM against another para/LN. Good to see it worked out for you. Too many times I've seen NCOs at all levels get wrapped up about being properly slotted. Although it is important to follow your career path there's no harm in working outside of your particular field as long as you keep yourself MOS Proficient. I’ve spent more of my career working outside my CMF and it didn’t seem to hurt me much. Bloom where your planted, do what you’ve been assigned to do and do your best at it and you will get what your after. If I could do it all over again the one thing I would do is take an IG Position. One of my most influential mentors when I was a young and impressionable E5 and E6 was 1SG Patterson. He later went on to be a CSM and I was fortunate to cross paths with him then. 1SG Patterson graduated from USASMA and his first assignment as a SGM was an IG Position. He told me that he was amazed at how much he learned as an IG, especially being an E9. The experience also enabled him to use one of the greatest lines I’ve heard since I’ve been in the Army. When he heard Soldiers say, “I’m going to IG”, his response was, “Let me save you the trip”. 1SG Patterson was an outstanding NCO and I miss him in a completely Paratrooper sense.
