Being close to the military community is underrated. We live in Temple and folks there are pretty unwelcoming. But when my wife takes the kids to the doctor, military wives will start chatting her up out of the blue like they were old friends (even though they are strangers). As for the schools, after 6 children, the one thing I can tell you is this, it doesn't matter how good or bad the school is, you as a parent have to be present in the school and in your kids lives. Some teachers are just there to collect a check, so you need to stay on top of them. One school can be good this year and bad the next. As for neighborhoods, like I said stay on post and this won't be an issue. Be happy to answer more questions, direct message me or look me up on global (I'm the only SFC Benavidez). Do you what unit our going to? Probably 13th ESC or 4th Sus BDE. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 05 Jul 2014 21:11:20 -0400 2014-07-05T21:11:20-04:00 Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 5 at 2014 9:12 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/pcsing-to-fort-hood-family?n=171530&urlhash=171530

https://www.rallypoint.com/locations/fort-hood-tx/current

Also here is the RallyPoint page for current Ft Hood personnel.

Servicemembers at Fort Hood, TX | RallyPoint

Connect with military members and veterans around Fort Hood, TX. I was never married nor did I have any kids however, I would say that before I left the Harker Heights area was really growing. They had built up a lot of that area and for the most part a lot of the Senior NCO's and Officers lived out in that area so it wasn't that bad. I like SFC Benavidez also lived in Temple. I did not mind living in Temple, there mall was rather small but the area like Harker Heights was really going. Before I left they had built a BJ's "great german beer there", and a few other nice restaurants. The only thing I didn't like was that long drive. Best luck to you. Killeen continues in leaps and bounds. There is Harker Heights, some people prefer Copperas Cove, and some people live in Georgetown and further. Just take the time to look around. My children still live there with their mom and they attend Belton and that, to me, is the best school district in the area. But at the end of the day, take the time to really look at the areas and then decide. 1SG Mike Case Mon, 07 Jul 2014 18:37:30 -0400 2014-07-07T18:37:30-04:00 Response by SGT(P) Daniel McBride made Jul 9 at 2014 12:18 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/pcsing-to-fort-hood-family?n=173747&urlhash=173747

CORRECTION **WANQ10** SGT(P) Daniel McBride Wed, 09 Jul 2014 00:18:30 -0400 2014-07-09T00:18:30-04:00 2014-07-01T23:03:09-04:00
