It's about 20 minute drive from drum. The cabins on drum are a good place to stay while using TLE.Response by SPC Todd Hanson made Jul 1 at 2017 5:16 PM2017-07-01T17:16:32-04:002017-07-01T17:16:32-04:00Frances McAllister-Gutheil2693481<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Fort Drum, as you know, is in Upstate NY. The base isn't very big, but it's close to Watertown. Be prepared for very long cold winters....due to being located at the east end of Lake Ontario and just below the St. Lawrence Seaway. The other posts on here are absolutely correct. It does get cold. I lived in Ogdensburg, about 45 minutes northeast, for a couple of years. My first time there was in February right after returning from Iraq. I went from Baghdad weather to 4°. There are things to do if you have a family. Sacket's Harbor has Old MacDonald's Farm, and my daughter loved it. When you get snowed in, and you will, the Chinese places in Watertown deliver.Response by SGT Nicholas Williams made Sep 22 at 2017 4:04 PM2017-09-22T16:04:11-04:002017-09-22T16:04:11-04:00SPC Brian Mason2939712<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am SO SORRY!<br />Do what you can to get the orders changed. Fort Drunk isn't a good place to stay even after Watertown building up some and some improvements. The closest large city to do ANYTHING remotely fun at night is around 2 HOURS AWAY.
