PCSing to Germany (Grafenwoehr)

This is my first overseas pcs. I have started my levy packet. Now waiting on my brief which I'm sure they will clear up some of my questions. However I have two sons. One being 14 and the other 9. I would like to know about the schools there and what is there to do on post. Any pointers for a first time overseas pcs??? All advice will be greatly appreciated !!

I spent my last 4 years out of 13 total of being in Germany, stationed there. Let me know what all your questions are I will do my best to answer them. As far as the schools go, they have DOD schools right there by the housing area that the kids can actually walk to.

You'll have fun there. I spent seven years in Vilseck and Grafenwoehr. The opportunities for travel throughout Europe are amazing. There's tons to do, and if you pass up the schwimbad in Nuremberg, you're doing yourself a disservice.

Also, don't forget all of the museums, concentration camps, old medieval castles, etc..

Take me with you! I LOVED Germany. I left there in 1994 and have been trying to get back ever since. So, naturally, the Army keeps sending me to Korea.

SPC Stahl , let me know if you need any infor about Germany or Graf because I was station there 2 years ago. It take some time getting use too but Germany is a great duty station. I don't know if you are getting another car or anything but I will warn you that in Europe it is very hard to find a automatic car because they look stick shift for some reason. Also, you are in within 2 hours from Prague and Munich . Both of these cities are awesome and are worth a visit. Well, if you have anymore information let me know.

Forget doing things on post. You have a whole continent of sites worth seeing within your reach while stationed there in Germany. You have the DoD schools there on post as previously mentioned otherwise pick the brain of the sponsor at your gaining unit to get the most up-to-date info.
