DeRussy Beach park, Kapiolani Park when you have time and desire to just play tourist for a day or two. Diamond Head hike is a must. If you have children, take them to the Bishop Museum, Sea Life Park and the Water Park near Ko'olina. Mighty Mo and the USS Arizona are closed until September, but they are most certainly a must stop to salute. Also, the WW2 Aviation Museum at Pearl. Make time to enjoy Kaneohe Bay & Kailua.. especially Lanikai Beach; these have to be added to your frequent visits list to enjoy your assignment station. Hanauma Bay for snorkeling and educational for kids and adults alike. Oahu is a lot friendlier towards servicemembers nowadays than it was decades ago... mostly because many locals are also serving and can now appreciate the sacrifice we servicemembers and our families are making. Still, as with anywhere else, use common sense and situational awareness at all times. Enjoy the islands, aloha and mahalo for your service!
