PCSing to The Old Guard: Can anyone provide me any insight?

Can anyone provide me any insight with The Old Guard? The only information I can find online is referring to the specialty platoons, and I am going there as an Ammunition Specialist. I would like to get a better understanding of what day to day life is like in this unit since it is quite different from other units in the conventional Army.

Any information would be welcome

For you it will be very similar to your last unit, you may get tasked out for ceremonial support missions from time to time but seeing as you aren't infantry I don't believe you'll be doing a whole lot of the ceremonial aspects of The Old Guard. I could be wrong but in my almost 3 years here at The Old Guard I very rarely see anyone other then infantry doing ceremonies.

The basics of peace time soldiering is magnified. When I was there I was told I would either leave demoted or promoted. You are in the spotlight. But I enjoyed my time there and grew as a soldier and leader

First off, congrats! Second, about all I know about the workings of the Old Guard is that they are dual hatted. They do their regular MOS stuff in addition to the ceremonial things in and around the NCR.

Hey Sergeant, I just ETS'd from there less than two months ago. You won't be doing ceremonies. You will almost definitely be working up at Regiment and replacing one of two great soldiers SSG GUTIERREZ or SSG NASSCO. I loved working with those guys. Anyway, you will most likely be making runs to FT. A.P. HILL to the main ASP to pick up ammo orders for transport to Ft. Myer. It should be a pretty sham job unless they changed things up there and things got stupid. If you have any other specific questions about the area, the unit, whatever, hit me up. I know Ft. Myer like the back of my hand.

It's definitely NOT the conventional army, but if you enjoy a fast-paced, high-vis duty station, you will like this place. Happy to link you up with someone there if you want - just shoot me a PM.

You get the passport at the losing duty station start now it takes 45-60 days to process

Which BN? 1/3 are ceremonial troops in MDW. Rest are regular grunts. Had the 2/3 with me in 199th Bde in the Nam. Only thing that I remember out of ordinary, their Os wore tricorn hats in base camp.
