Until the rules are changed you play by the rules as they are. In business to do otherwise is a violation of fiduciary responsibility. Poor fiduciary responsibility by corporate officers of a publicly owned company is a clear invitation for the SEC to go through your underwear drawer.

I selected the fourth response, but only if I construe stupid as irrelevant. His position on foreign operations and migration by US based firms is smoke. The President may sponsor legislation to impose tariffs and penalties on these companies but he may not unilaterally take these actions. Kinda like building a wall or putting political rivals in jail. But those were just political infomercial devices designed to suck in votes. He's reversed himself on most of those positions. There is no reason to expect him to practice what he preached on this issue.

Economic reality from the point of view of a business dictates where things get made. Government can change that reality via economic and monetary policies. So the right question is whether the new administration will be able to effectively change the economic environment so that business will choose to move their activities back to America.

PE Trump never really made a big deal about made in America, he did build a following around bringing jobs back to America but that's a vastly different animal from made in America. Even if both were the same they fall into campaign promise categories, and how often are those kept? His product line is heavy with products made in foreign countries and I don't see any change coming to that. Profitability to shareholders is way more important than making things in America. The sad fact that any job already moved from America to a foreign country and the products produced by those jobs aren't coming back to American shores.

The question says real estate, not manufactured products. Why would anyone get rid of real property especially when foreigners own a huge amount of real estate in the US.

Why is this only a problem with Trump when other presidents or their families have made millions while in office? LBJ is one example. His wife owned construction companies doing business for the government. On a little different level CA Senator Feinstein and Rep. Pelose have funneled millions to businesses owned by their husbands. This has been the case forever and before Trump it never seemed to bother much of anybody.

Well, the question is disingenuous for a simple reason. Trump is complaining about the tax and regulatory environment in the USA driving out business. If he can fix those issues, it would make sense to bring his business back to the USA (especially as an example to others). Otherwise, why bother?

The problem I see is the small word he has used that no one has picked up on very much...competition. Companies want to make the most they can and therefore they are going overseas and using cheap labor, cheaper materials, and higher quality. The problem is they aren't passing those savings on to their employees and the consumer. They are lining their pockets with massive profits. Another issue are the unions. Unions were great at one time but I believe they have served their purpose and need to fade away. I have seen union demands and most of them are outrageous. There was one time when I was working in industry that I had three guys on the floor that could fix the equipment that was broken...I couldn't have them touch the machine because I had to call the current guy in to fix it at triple overtime rate. One of the demands was that employees were guaranteed X hours of overtime whether they worked it or not. When I was raised up, you didn't work you didn't get paid. What I couldn't understand is that there were blue collar line employees getting paid what the plant manager was getting paid...that is Ludacris and there are hundreds more examples from other companies that fit that bill. Companies will have to compete for best value and I understand profits etc but bring it back to America sensibly, bring value and quality back.

If he is associated with the business in any way, it is important. If you are going to talk the talk you need to be willing to walk the walk and not fall into the do as I say and not as I do rhetoric.
