Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich's while deployed https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/peanut-butter-and-jelly-sandwich-s-while-deployed

So, during my deployment if you were lucky to be on a nice base, you'd get a "lite" lunch, but a nice one, none the less. however , more often than not, youd get sucked into something, or end up at a base way out in the 'boonies and it was mre's for breakfast, pb & j's for lunch and hot chow for dinner. anybody else have the same experience. if ( or not) so how'd you like it? Nothing says Americana better than PB&J. I used to keep a jar of Goober and a sleeve of crackers closer in reach than my M16.

A "lite" lunch at Victory was a full course meal complete with Baskin Robbins ice cream. So the only suck factor was when they ran out of chocolate. There were plenty of times when we couldn't make lunch due to missions, etc. It was a good 1.2 miles from our HQ to the DFAC and if you didn't make the bus you were LPCing it. A lot of days it was "Sergeant's Surprise" - a good reason to make sure you got along with your NCOs - they would do a chow run and get take out. If you were on someone's doo-doo list, we'll, you couldn't be 100% sure what was in or on that hamburger, and on occasion, that may or may not have not been lemonade.
