The Pentagon wants to send enough military equipment to Eastern Europre to supply 5,000 troops on the ground.

It sounds necessary to me. Putin needs to see a tangible reason to hesitate in his move to take territory from the neighboring countries.

If he doesn't get pushback it will look like a green light.
