Does anyone have any experience requesting a permissive reassignment in order to be relocated with their spouse? We will both have 24 month TOS by mid March so that's not an issue. I know there's a need for someone with my MOS and pay grade at my husband's duty station, so how long should it take once the 4187 is submitted?

Many years ago my wife and I went through a similar debacle trying to get assigned together. &nbsp;I could not be assigned to her duty station but she could be assigned to mine. &nbsp; She requested reassignment through her unit and it got denied, she called her branch and was told there were no available open assignments at my installation. &nbsp;I went to every unit on my installation that had her MOS and got a unit rollup that showed numerous available positions. &nbsp; My COC called her branch and was repeatedly told they were not going to reassign her. &nbsp; After 3-4 months of this my Company Commander and 1SG called me in and told me that they thought I should contact my Congressman as it did not appear that the Army was following it's own rules. &nbsp; From the day I submitted my Congressional until she signed in to my installation was less than 90 days. &nbsp;<div><br></div><div>I'm not advocating running straight to your Congressman just letting you know that there are always options. &nbsp;Keep yours and his COC in the loop and ask them to help you with what you need. &nbsp;Good luck, I wish you the best.</div>

Email your branch manager and CC his branch manager expressing the situation and where you both would like to go. And yes, ensure you both are enrolled in MACP. No guarantees but it'll be start.

SPC(P) Wagner,
First off, I am in no way saying that you won't be reassigned.  You just need to be aware of the following.  An enrollment in the MACP is not a guarantee in a joint assignment.  All it ensures is that HRC will attempt to locate the both of you as close as possible.  You are correct in assuming that 24 months is the minimal TOS for you to be reassigned without waivers from God and country but with budget cuts the Army is PCS'ing personnel at a slower rate with longer periods in between.  Also, unit strength is a concern.  For example:  If your unit is at 70% for your MOS and grade and the other unit is at 90% there is a greater chance of your request being denied.  Just arming you with the facts but I wish you luck in being reassigned with your hubby.  You should have an answer within 30 days, if not, contact branch.
