Don't ever want to use them but these days I feel like it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of extra protection, especially here in NY.Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 21 at 2014 9:00 PM2014-12-21T21:00:39-05:002014-12-21T21:00:39-05:00LTC Paul Heinlein380851<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="2689" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/2689-cpt-chris-loomis">CPT Chris Loomis</a>,<br /> <br />I'm always armed, I try and stay alert to my surroundings, and look for anything that may be out of the norm. If I have reason to believe I may be personally targeted (e.g. someone has made a direct threat), then very routines and mix up travel routes.Response by LTC Paul Heinlein made Dec 21 at 2014 9:05 PM2014-12-21T21:05:44-05:002014-12-21T21:05:44-05:00SSgt Private RallyPoint Member380976<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I don't drink. I don't do drugs. Those two things combined with where I live, reduces my chances of being the victim of a violent crime to less than that of getting struck by lightening. On top of that, I do try to maintain a level of situational awareness, and I do keep firearms as well.Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 21 at 2014 10:51 PM2014-12-21T22:51:39-05:002014-12-21T22:51:39-05:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member381027<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Avoidance is key. The best way to stay out of trouble is not put yourself in a place where trouble happens. I also try to blend in to local population as much as possible. Finally, have personal protection. Here in Japan that limits what you can carry, but every little bit helps.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 21 at 2014 11:38 PM2014-12-21T23:38:40-05:002014-12-21T23:38:40-05:002014-12-21T20:58:06-05:00
