I will say that you're never to early to start thinking about the reclass process. I was in my primary MOS for less than a year and I could already tell that I wanted something different. Your best friend in this situation will be your units career counselor, however, if you're not in your window or close to your window for reclassing, you may not get a ton of information. This is due to the fact that what they may tell you now, may not be accurate in two years when you're eligible.
What I truly believe that you need right now is a good leader and not a new job. Your leader does not have to be your supervisor, it can even be someone with good experience that does not have stripes on their chest. But you do need help. Everyone needs a good leader to come to for help in these situations. Find someone near to you that you can trust and rely on and go to them for help. I wish you the best of luck in your upcoming future.

91E is a great rewarding MOS while overseas. You are basically the od one out. Not a mechanic, but you're a bit over specialized for most maintenance CO. Overseas you're basically the guy where people come up to you because they have a great idea for something to build, and you need to use your imagination to figure out how to make it. Either fixing broken pieces off of tanks. Or your command team will come up to your shop and ask you "Hey we think this would look badass can you make this?!"
You are also left alone for the most part. If there is a detail or anything going on, usually we have so many W.O. and usually 4 of us to a squad to do the work that they leave us alone and just grab some of the 91B.

91E can be very rewarding, but is a but of a red headed stepchild in the Army. If you want to do some research, visit your local BSB, S&R shop to see how you like it. It's a great job, with a bit of creative freedom, and most people don't even know we exist. Because of that it also means that we have to work extra hard at some units to establish a welding shop. Again, just try to visit a BSB and check it out.

I also agree that mentors are much needed in the military, and some of my best mentors came from other MOS's than my own, latch off of them and see If they can give you a heads up or a nod in the right direction
