The room she was in was on the opposit side of the building so the glass imploded. She was shredded but survived. She'd had reconstructive surgery and a glass eye. They worked on a medical retirement but she fought, successfully, to remain active duty. She was a high caliber woman. I often thought, how would I handle that? I suspect not as well as she did. Coming from a family of strong women I really wasn't surprised by her example. Anyone that dismisses the value of women in the service just haven't had their eyes open to all they bring to the table. When I sit back and appreciate what the military does for me and my family it's completely gender neutral... thanks to all the ladies that have and continue to serve. I applaud them and hold them in the highest regard for overcoming true hardships. Not only overcoming, but owning and kicking it's a$$.
