This photo is so strong in many ways. Proud Service members, as all who served. Taking charge of the situation and getting on with it. I haven't seen many photos of the female service member amputees. Yet I know personally a few my self. All have earned the right to be recognized. Don't you agree?

I worked with a female Capt that was in Khobar Towers. The room she was in was on the opposit side of the building so the glass imploded. She was shredded but survived. She'd had reconstructive surgery and a glass eye. They worked on a medical retirement but she fought, successfully, to remain active duty. She was a high caliber woman. I often thought, how would I handle that? I suspect not as well as she did. Coming from a family of strong women I really wasn't surprised by her example. Anyone that dismisses the value of women in the service just haven't had their eyes open to all they bring to the table. When I sit back and appreciate what the military does for me and my family it's completely gender neutral... thanks to all the ladies that have and continue to serve.

Thanks for sharing. We often do only categorize and wounded warrior as only being a make Soldier, but that not that case.

Thanks so much for posting this picture! I am very Thankful and Proud of all my brothers and sisters out there fighting the good fight for OUR COUNTRY! We all need to continue to share and talk about All the sacrafices made, so we can live our lives without fear and be free! It's crazy to think that this is only 1% of the population. I'm going to take a stance that may not be popular on this. I applaud them and hold them in the highest regard for overcoming true hardships. Not only overcoming, but owning and kicking it's a$$. That being said, I don't understand the need to recognize or celebrate separate groups. They are all Wonded Warriors. When I think of the wounded, I don't just think of the men. To me, it falls in line with the concept of the "silent professional "; you adapt, you overcome, and you soldier on. The same with any group looking for special recognition.

I have served with women warriors from the mid 1970’s WACs (Women Army Corps) to 2015 service women and will say that they have served in the same capacity as men and have faced the same dangers and death as men, but we as men have not given our Women Warriors the same over due respect.

I do agree. Especially the physically disabled female veterans. But, also the invisibly disabled female veterans- such as myself. (I am mentally ill; and have PTSD.)

I would like to take this time to salute the women in the armed forces and any support groups that are affiliated with the military in any way, shape, or form the women have alway been there almost side by side through war and peace and for the women of this great nation I salute you!!!! I believe our female veterans deserve special recognition. I have served with many amazing women over the years who are inspirational and were fantastic members of United States military.
