Police brutality isn't the issue. Instances of REAL police brutality are extremely rare. The issue is citizens who believe they don't have to comply with lawful orders given by law enforcement officers.

Members of law enforcement are being openly targeted simply for the fact that they are law enforcement. I do not blame LEOs for responding quickly and harshly to high stress incidents. They have families to go home to every night.

2d Lt (Join to see) Sean Bell wasn't breaking any laws in New York, when he was shot 50 times by NYPD. Amadou Dialloa wasn't breaking any laws when he was shot on his front porch 40 times. with all due respect, you're mistaken sir. the issue is police officers making rash decisions and not being made to take responsibility or being held accountable for their actions.

any time a sworn officer of the law can hop on the hood of a car and fire 15-30 rounds at 2 unarmed occupants and not go to prison, something is wrong with the system. not the citizens. IJS Sir

Also, ask a person of color how relations are between them and the Cincinnati Police. Not for nothing LT, I feel you need to get out more or talk to your senior leadership and get smarter on this topic

This is just more rhetoric with no substantiation. At a minimum he should keep the terminology straight. I did more readings on this and you are right.

I suggest you do your homework before using such precise examples. Sean Bell was shot when he failed to listen to police officers who had clearly identified themselves, and also struck one officer with his vehicle.
Amadou Diallao was shot when he ran from uniformed officers and quickly reached into his jacket after being told to stop.
Both deaths were tragic, but entirely avoidable had they complied with the lawful orders they were given.

I can assure you that not all people of color despise Law Enforcement, or even have tense relations with them. Police Agencies such as those in Cincinnati are given bad names by one or several officers. Their actions are not indicative of an entire police agency.
I agree, there are ruthless, horrible killings like that of Tamir Rice. But we cannot allow these few incidents to turn our backs to police agencies around the country.

I submit that one way we can improve this issue is by being law-abiding citizens who obey police commands. That's step #1.

I too say there should be accountability. Both for the offending officer and for the person(s) who instigated the problem.

And the whole scenario must be considered not just parts that support one side.

I agree with accountability all the way around. The thing is, if a police officer tells me to exit my vehicle, to stop walking, whatever, I'm going to do it. I'm not going to cop an attitude and mouth off. It will be nothing but yes, sir and no, sir. That may not solve all the problems, but I maintain that showing respect to the police, vice disrespect or attitude, is a giant step in the direction of ending "police brutality."

Police brutality is NOT a major problem in this country. Criminals and those who support them are.

I respectfully disagree, SGT. I think Criminals and the ones who support criminals are no different than Police officers who shoot and kill unarmed people unjustifiably

I voted that down, for one reason; comparison of cops to criminals. A person who can move, hit, kick, throw things IS armed. In the current media "justified" is being defined per social opinion, not by law. There are close to one million police, in any one year, there are perhaps 3-5 cases that could be upheld as a unlawful use of force. Police in the USA encounter 1 person every 10-20 seconds, and everyday 1 million people enter the United States.

Any person, civilian or police who has commited a crime, and is to face justice encounter the same judicial system without predjucide, regardless of social opinions. It is sad to me, truly, that the convesations that need to be had, can not happen. In this era or litigation, no cop or DA, or politician is willing to but their name to something, and perhaps suffer litigation.
