Valdosta State University protesters walk on flag..what could have been done better in this situation?

I couldn't believe they were protesting slavery by walking on the flag that allows them the freedom to exercise their right to free speech...your thoughts?

The university supported the protesters, which is a disgrace. They banned the Veteran from the properties. That isn't a kind gesture toward supporting veterans or the flag.

Dispose of the flag appropriately in place (as it has become soiled burn it in compliance with the US Flag Code), if they want to continue to desecrate it while its burning that would be on them.
