Police officer is fired after bullets found at scene were his. I think he should have been charged, what do you think?

Seems to me this officer should be charged with multiple charges and thrown into jail.

He made up a story which led to a massive man hunt lasting all day.

They are investing this incident. I sure hope they throw the book at him and throw him into jail.

According to the write up he will be charged with criminal charges, as he should be...
"Dwyer said criminal charges are expected against the part-time officer, who has not yet been identified."

My guess is that he was driving his cruiser recklessly and crashed. knowing that would prevent him from getting full time status he fabricates that he was shot at in hopes that they would not suspect him of driving dangerously.

This is almost unbelievable. Surely a LEO would know that an investigation would show the bullets to be his.

We had a similar case on Monkey Mountain where a couple of troops reported being caught in an ambush and a fire fight. There was a lot of brass found in the GIs position but none where the bad guys were supposed to have been. Both GIs got Purple Hearts but one refused to wear his. Would be interesting to hear the back story on that one.
