Police departments face a recruiting shortage amid a growing anti-cop mood that some fear has taken the pride out of peacekeeping and put targets on the backs of the men and women in blue.
My question referencing the attached video/article is simply this:

If this trend in the decrease of LE recruits, as indicated in this article, continues across the US, do you believe those who currently support tighter gun laws and restrictions will change their positions and increase those numbers who support the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms? Why or why not?

I would like to request that you please keep your responses related specifically to the question posed above. Thanks.

Gun control advocates are emotionally wedded to their ideology and facts cannot change opinions that the facts had no part in forming.

Capt Seid Waddell I hear ya, but I'm also amazed at how often opinions change when their lives, or the lives of their loved ones are really on the line... That's a fact even they can't ignore...

MSgt Curtis Ellis, being the victim of a violent attack has been the only reason motivating the that the few I have known to have changed their thinking.

Capt Seid Waddell - It's unfortunate when it gets to that... hopefully it won't, as that also creates vigilantes...

MSgt Curtis Ellis, the failure of the legal system to control the criminal element creates vigilantes - which is simply one more form of criminality.

I have been interested in LE for the last 5 years. Now? Not so much. It's not the media's bashing of LE, it's the blatant disregard from police chiefs and other politicians who thoughtlessly flip on one of their own to appease a vocal crowd vs the silent majority.

Some keep saying they will apply, and become LEO's regardless because they're not in it for the 'thanks.' Personally, I don't want to get shit on every day at work, it's even bad in some security jobs, so if it's the thankless 'good feeling' you're looking for, then I suggest joining the clandestine services.

I may find my way to support LE as a career - such as a Crime Analyst, but certainly never on the front lines. I'm not going to place my family's honor in the hands of 'what's best for PR' until this country stops glorifying felons.

SPC Corbin Sayi - Don't apologize as this has a more "personal" attachment that I'm not privy to. I hope you can remain interested in LE and things change enough for you to participate exactly how you want and not have to second it. Thank you for your comment.

I don't think that the military will removed firearms from the people. How ever it looks as to be like some 3rd world countries we always read about in school fighting to keep their rights and war every where.

MSgt Curtis Ellis It's a sad reality. I was discussing the same with someone this morning. They feel there is a total lack of support for them from the media and elected leaders.

CPT (Join to see) I agree, and I believe if I were in the their position, I would be giving it some serious thoughts as to if this is something I want to walk into. Hopefully, everyone will get their heads out on all sides relatively soon, or we may become our own police force, or worse, the military becomes it...

A shame really. It seems that Obama even contributes in a negative way on our law enforcement. I for one will stand with them if I see they need help. Sure there are some bad Police Officers out there. There are some shitbirds in every job area. The US Marines always said that 10% gives all Marines a bad name. We have great law officers in general where I live, but there are a few of them that the gun and badge have went to their head and they cause conflicts of interest that should never take place. As a whole, we need to back and support our law enforcement and our Firemen too. Remember on 9/11/2001 , they were the real heroes of the day.
