Pondering an officer branch switch from AMEDD reserves to guard combat arms. Possible?

I'm a current AMEDD officer (direct commission, reserves), looking to make a possible career change. Currently looking at infantry (former active enlisted 11B), or similar (SF, CA). My question is whether it is possible to switch from AMEDD to another branch as a direct commission. I have been successful in my current job but possibly looking for something different.

In the USAR, I have a LTC Administrative nurse BSA who is Psyop too. She is on loan to the 75th TC as an OC-T. I think you have lots of potential as you are. It is great to know you can be on loan to PSYOP, be a nurse, get to be in a training command as an OC-T and, like her, be able to go to to John Hopkins as a fellow for a year after completing CGSOC Common Core and make LTC in the MSC! Now she will be a Chief of Team leader too aka (CHOT) and evaluate medical units and medical battalion staff deploying to theater. She also works for the VA in her civilian job as a Nurse too. I learned some of this yesterday talking to her.

Have you checked to the Officers Branch recruiters... and I would recommend The 18-A rout with an 11B background... ...

Check with the local CA unit, because if you are branch qualified CA needs you, we want your brains..

What kind of opportunities are there for MSC AMEDD officers in Civil Affairs? I know that they exist but I don,t know what they do? Specifically in the reserves.

By the way, Civil Affairs and Psyop is like the bastard cousin of SF. Some units are airborne. Some allow language school at Monterey. Some allow Air Assault and they also compete in the Ultimate Warrior Competition Nicholas. The real best can even apply for Ranger School!

Thanks SSG Carlos Madden for looping me into this one. MAJ Private RallyPoint Member I just met with the 443rd CA BN this past weekend about a transfer there. I can tell you what I heard through the grapevine about how incoming AMEDD officers are being handled and hook you up with a POC as well if you'd like.

Yes, it is possible to transfer to CA; however, you have to be released by AMEDD and accepted by one of the basic branches that are in the CA unit structure such as AG, MI, SC, or LG. There is a lot of paperwork involved, but it can be done if you understand the process and work the system. The CA branch would be awarded after completion of the RC CA CCC phases 1 thru 4 or if you have completed a CCC already, you would only need to complete phase 3 and 4 of RC CA CCC. Check DA PAM 600-3, Chapter 18 for the CA Branch accessions requirements. The other option if you have a civilian career that fits into one of the CA skill identifiers, you can apply for 38G, Military Government Specialist. A panel to qualify applicants is conducted quarterly per MILPER message. Email me at [login to see] if you have questions or need additional information. I can put you in touch with a USAR CA unit or send you the MILPER for 38G.

It's a super easy packet. Shot me an email on global and I can send it over. Do understand you'll need to transfer into a feeder AOC either at a no medical unit. If you're particular on what your feeder is then I'd suggest an O1A position at First Army or 109th Div (IT), otherwise you'll more than likely end up a admin officer.
