Is it Possible to be a federal technician in one unit and drill at a Different Unit? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/possible-to-air-reserve-technician-at-a-different-unit

Has anyone heard of someone who drills at one unit, but is a Federal Technician (ART) at a different unit? I'm wondering if it is allowed/possible. I drill in a different city than the one I live in, but there is a Guard base in my city. Are units allowed to hire someone as a technician from a different unit, without forcing them to transfer units? Thank you! His weekend job was as a HUMINT collector for the Utah NG. He had to request a new waiver for missing drill every 6 months, but he was able to manage both positions. A tech might effectively support only a single unit, such as an aircraft mechanic for an airframe that the state only has one unit of but they are not in that unit when working as a tech. They are in unit of techs with a tech chain of command.
So most likely you'd be able to apply for a tech job that does not have an association with your unit.
