I emailed ahead to find out if that was acceptable, as I am not about to send out my personal information, either. The email I received back said that was a perfectly acceptable format, and so I did, and my account was 'verified'. As well, if one of your former battle buddies is already on and verified, he or she can 'endorse' your credibility.

Response by SGT James P. I got my friend from my one ship to confirm I was a vet. Some other sites let everyone in and the result is a huge amount of spam, tends to turn people off. Response by LT Stephen Amiaga made Nov 5 at 2013 11:20 AM 2013-11-05T11:20:31-05:00 2013-11-05T11:20:31-05:00 SGT Ben Keen 20338

I keep a copy of my DD214 stored on a flash drive with my SSN and other PII stuff blacked out that I than use for things like this. But I can see your point, you just never know.
