I think once History catches up to analyzing everything, I think it will show if the US had waited a year or so and put more time and effort into Afghanistan initially, we may not have been in either country as long as we were. I used to fly in/out of DFW a lot when on active duty before I went to Afghanistan in 2011. There were many times he and his wife would be there to welcome home returning service members - not for the publicity, but for the men and women in uniform. After I was injured and during my 2 years at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, there were numerous occasions where he and his wife would have wounded warriors out to their ranch for BBQ's and hunts.
