I'm a prior service E-5 coming out of Reserves and IRR. I did 2 years active duty overseas and the rest as 38B Reservist. I want to go back in Active Duty, so I guess the question is do i even have a shot?

I was looking at these new rules, and I know it's always tough to go from a Reserve start to AGR / Active, but has anyone had luck doing this?

Being the rules change so fast based on needs of the Army: I'd suggest talking to a recruiter. Sucks but that's the name of the game these days.

I did this last year. Took 6 months to get the conditional release from my reserve unit but after that, it took 5 weeks to be sworn in. Very easy process if you are already free from your reserve obligation, otherwise you have to get a conditional release. Pick your job wisely!

The Army is growing right now, so they are taking prior service.
