My debate is complicated, I am a 68J and my options are: CWO in my field (which I do not enjoy as much), or Pilot, but I am not familiar with the benefits and job security of being a helicopter pilot for when I retire. I also have a huge interest for CID CWO, but it requires at least two years of CID Enlisted experience, so this could take a while before I even commission. <br /><br />I am really confused and mislead by bias opinions. Flight Warrant promotion rates are getting pretty cut throat. You have to have a real passion and desire to fly if you want to go that route. As for the post retirement options for helicopter pilots. Your going to need 2000 flight hours or more to be eligible for most jobs, that can take years to accumulate. Even then the average job is only going to get you in the 50-60,000 a year range. Follow your gut, a give it your all. Every career option has that part of the job you will not like. Having said that; no one ever gains any respect for an easy career. My advice!
