Process of going enlisted to officer after completing OSUT?

As an 11X about to start OSUT, I was wondering what the process looks like/realistic timeline of submitting a packet for OCS once I have gotten to my unit?

There's an OCS board every year. Once you get to your unit start talking to your leadership about your goal. It will require several letters of recommendation from various levels of your chain of command. I would expect to be at your unit at least a year or two before that happens.

Let me state the obvious though. What will take the longest is your education. If you're a PFC then you don't have a bachelor degree already. If you have your bachelor degree then your recruiter messed up with your rank. You won't be eligible to apply for OCS until after you have your degree complete

As said previously, you should focus on finishing basic, OSUT and getting acclimated to the Army. Per the current MILPER message, the OCS board convenes 4 times a year. Refer to MILPER Message 20-307. That is the most recent OCS MILPER message that I am tracking. It will lay out the board dates as well as packet requirements. Good luck in your future in the Army.

You’ve got some great facts and advice below. I’d add that you need to learn how to be a follower before becoming a leader. Kick ass in OSUT. Max PT and the range. Be humble. Keep your head down, your mouth shut, and your eyes and ears open. Be an information sponge. Develop your reading, writing and critical thinking skills. Good luck.

From what I’ve experienced, it’s taken about 2 years.
