So, what is expected? Some details to help you out. Been in the unit since Jan 15th. It's not a 1sg billet. Will likely be people from my previous unit at the ceremony. should I provide food? If so, what? Just a cake and beverages or a bigger spread? Thanks for the advice Promotion expectations (What is expected at a promotion ceremony for MSG?) 2015-05-19T23:24:24-04:00 1SG Private RallyPoint Member 681828

I just made the promotion list for 1 June 15 and now my wife, also in the army, and I have been discussing what is expected at a promotion ceremony for MSG. Finger food and drinks and more than that high-fives and praise for those that did their part to help you there, mostly the junior enlisted. Finger foods, sandwiches, refreshments, and a type of dessert is usually the norm. I have never seen a reception after a promotion, not saying it doesn't happen but, I have never seen one. It's your ceremony and if you want to have a reception go for it.

Congratulation's on your selection/promotion! The incoming individual is responsible for the spread.

Though if you have a lot of friends, liquid refreshments at the after ceremony would be the more appreciated congratulatory gesture :-) Response by MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca made May 20 at 2015 5:35 AM 2015-05-20T05:35:50-04:00 2015-05-20T05:35:50-04:00 SSG Melvin Nulph 682342

It's your show, I'd say do as you see fit.
