Put on medical board without being on profile, is that the Army way?

So my friend advised me tonight they where put on a medical board never put on a profile at all for the condition what is the policy with the Army is that the way to do it to put Soldiers on Medical Boards with no profiles? My friend has already signed the papers and is already doing QTC appointments and its only been 2 weeks.

You have to have a profile for a med board/ides. You can be given a permanent profile p3 that triggers a medical board without any previous profiles, but that is rare. If the condition is permanent in nature and bad enough you can skip the temporary profiles and go straight to permanent. However, this is generally not the case as doctors like to treat and control conditions. There is always more to the story with medical fitness issues though.

I don't believe that weight (or failing a pinch test) would put you automatically on a profile.

Working Medical Boards I loathe the ‘my friend’ and the rest of the barracks lawyer talk.

For a Medical Evaluation Board to proceed a Permanent Profile must be signed.
The SM might not have received/acknowledged a copy ‘handed’ to them. But heard of AKO- one can track their Medical Readiness there!
Or the Board the SM is actually going through is not a Medical Retention board but an Administrative Board.
Trust me, a lot of confused SM are out there during MEBs. It’s either a) how can I stay in? b) how can I get “Medical Retirement” and make $7K /month (milk it) for being in service for 2 yrs?
(Option b is a mermaid- fantasy)
