I've heard multiple times they were more interested I the bottom line and less concerned with giving any support to our troops and those protecting the public...is this still true?

Good question. Short answer, NO! "Why?", you may ask. Simple. While Starbucks would love to sell their "girly" coffee on bases around the world, praying on unsuspecting service members and civilian workers, their corporate position on donations is not very supportive of Veterans. While they have donated millions of dollars to the G, L, TG movement and the like, they adamantly refuse to donate to organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Home Front and the like. The corporate stance is that they do not wish to support war, acts of war or any show of military force. The government should take care of Veterans, not them. We knew the risks of death and injury when we enlisted.

To me, they are saying, "Thank you for serving. Sorry you lost two legs and an arm. Maybe you'll be more careful next time, but sorry, you're not our problem. Go beg from someone else!"

PO1 Cleve Ikaika Waiwaiole -- I see you are in Hawaii. I was at Schofield Barracks. I know that Schofield has a Starbucks, if not two of them. Also, almost every Army base I have been to has a Starbucks. Maybe it's time for you to join the Army, lol. :-)

Do they not have them on Navy bases? Because they have them on Army posts and AF bases. Hell, we had TWO on Yongsan and that post is postage stamp sized. May be difference in the fast food contracts (i.e. AAFES has Burger King and NEX has McDonalds).

As already stated, many Starbucks on Army posts already. One of note is the community Starbucks on Fort Benning Putting coffee shops in the neighborhoods is a great way to build community and make the on-post living experience a little more enjoyable.

Starbucks (like Delta Airlines) often gets hooked by these internet movements that claim they do not support veterans or they are disrespectful etc. I have never had that experience, mainly because the communities in which I have lived have been exceptionally supportive. The Fort Drum Starbucks (as with many others) sends donated coffee to deployed troops -- shipping isn't free as we all know) and often times the employees donate before the package ships.

I am going to get it no matter where it is -- better to have it closer and supporting the community directly than having it too far away!

Starbucks coffee sucks, if they have to market putting all that crap in to make their espresso taste better then they have failed. I would much prefer seeing local vendors get the contract, you tend to get better coffee as well as support the local economy.

They charge half an E-1's bi weekly paycheck for a latte. Starbuck's is spreading like a virus. They are overpriced, and getting down to the heart of it, their actual coffee is not that good. From a health perspective, their drinks that taste good have so many calories, you would need to choose lunch or latte?

Dunkin Donuts is were you'll find that kick to get the day started right. Starbucks is over priced and I'm not a fan of anything of theirs. I'm surprised they allow them on military installations due to their choosing stances on social issues going on across the country.

One in the BX on Peterson AFB, but I like better the fact there's a tiny independent place in the MSG building and a kiosk (although using Starbucks branded coffee) in the clinic. In most cases the more independent it is the better, in my experience.

Our base has Starbucks as well as several Navy ships. They're TAD personnel trained to be baristas by Starbucks using real Starbucks espresso beans. It was nice to get a frap or a latte now and then on deployment. Heck, some shops have made their own carriers for large orders for the work center. You fly, I buy.

It seems there are Starbucks shops on bases already.

However, as the question stands, I would reply 'no' and that the concession should be given to a company that does not ask civilians with concealed [firearms] carry permits to leave their firearms in their cars before coming into their stores.
