With the recent amount of stolen valor it is hard to keep up with all the different threads being posted here on RallyPoint. From this point forward if you have a stolen valor question, comment, and or post, then add it here. The posts that currently exist will stay, as we don't want to lose the already existing discussion content. If you have started a stolen valor post prior to this and wish to have it merged to this one then feel free to let me know and I will merge that for you. The initial post will be gone but the discussion content will be merged to this posting.

Unless someone is willing to do the intensive research Stolen Valor does before they out someone, they have no business passing or sharing judgement of those on RP. There are many profiles which are questionable, but I'm not about to call them a fraud, in a forum like this, without some kind of proof. It really doesn't matter anyway because Service Members can see when things don't add up.

If you really don't trust someone's profile, report it to Stolen Valor. Post the results after it's been investigated.

Be a professional, talk to them in a private message, inform them about the professional image they are portraying, and leave it be. We can all tell what's real.

MAJ Ian Dews, I think you're being harsh. That guy seems legit.

I exclusively shop at Home Depot for that reason.

I just found out about the Lowe's discount within the last month. I could have saved on the crown molding (sp?) that my better half had to have. I had my DD-214 on me the next time I went. The SPC did my old outgoing ID card wrong the first time. She cut the laminated picture and re-laminated it on the new one. I am glad that my state puts Veteran status on the drivers' licenses now.
Oh, this one's REAL good. Claims to be a GEN, a West Pointer and Harvard grad:

SPC Kel Rowland - I'd sooner believe in the Easter bunny. Liars are bad enough. Posers even worse. Parasites living off the service provided by others REALLY chap my ass. I so wish I could put a stop to this, but...

Sadly Top, they don't let us shoot posers on site! I think it would slow down the posers if we could! :-)
Working and living in DC there are frauds like this all over the case. It's sad but true. Every day a band of gypsies work the corner of Columbia Pike and Joyce, right by the entrances to the Pentagon and Arlington Cemetary claiming they're homeless vets, but one day it's a hispanic woman, another day an asian man, another day a white man. I have Arlington PD friends who confirm they are a roaming band that panhandles.
Illinois Congresswoman Tammy Duckwork, a disabled combat veteran herself outed a dude who sprained his ankle in a military prep school was able to claim a disability through the VA and get contracts as a Disabled-owned, Veteran-Owned business and he never saw active duty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3cJhb4rN5M The VA system is clogged by people gaming the system that our military vets who need the help can't get it.
Add to that, people who put on the uniform to play hero to gain either recognition or financial gain are no better in my opinion than VA and welfare scammers.
