MREs DO go bad after a while. How would I know this? Because I have had the misfortune of discovering this delicious factoid myself.
A couple of years ago, I was given a box of brown MREs. They had been in a connex. There was no expiration date on it. (Where is the expiration date on an MRE?) They could have been sitting in that connex for a decade, but what the hell. It's an MRE. I thought they were like, the food version of Methuselah.
We got them home and my kids dove into the box. MREs, to the average kiddo, is like a McDonald's Happy Meal.
