I am pretty certain that the 82nd took the Aviation Brigade off of jump status a few years ago. That just leaves the 160th.
If you are Ranger qualified... If your unit is even willing to send you... That will not change your assignments in any way. But it will set you up for future promotions.
There are other 15 series MOS who are authorized in Airborne positions, just not your MOS. Ranger school won’t be a big push for 15 series but I’ve seen some with the tab. It won’t affect you much other than promotion points and going above and beyond your peers. It is one of the hardest MOS to get into because of the ASVAB requirements. It is very hard to replace you, so these extra schools like Airborne and Air Assault are not going to happen. I put in numerous packets, but they eventually told me to stop because the military invested way too much in me to let me get hurt doing something unnecessary to the fulfillment of my mission requirements. Let’s be real honest though, you’ll do more damage in a matter of months sitting on the FOB out at the FARP than most infantry companies will do in an entire deployment. Nothing but respect for the blue fourragere, but they need you just as much as you need them. One team one fight and all that.
