Thomas Jefferson and education

In 1779 in "A Bill for the More General Diffusion of Knowledge," Jefferson proposed a system of public education to be tax-funded for 3 years for "all the free children, male and female," which was an unusual perspective for the time period. They were allowed to attend longer if their parents, friends, or family could pay for it independently.

We experienced all of these options with our 4 kids, except military prep school. Here's my general preference; however, each school can be different. We had an unpleasant experience at a private school our 1st daughter attended, but have been very pleased with the public school daughters #2, #3, and #4 attended.

1. Home School
2. Private School
3. Public School
4. On-Post School
5. Military Prep School (too many anecdotal horror stories)

I have two lists. The left side is the one based off of reality/affordability. The right side is the one based off of preference if cost was not an issue or it was available.
