Should I go to RASP 1 or wait until I get promoted and go to RASP 2?

I am an E5 looking to go to ranger batt. I am soon to be promoted to 6. Should i go to rasp 1 or wait till i promote and go to rasp 2

Why wait? I wouldn't put off things. If you want to do it I would recommend going for it.

RASP 2 will involve a board reviewing if they even want you. While Ranger Regiment is always looking for junior enlisted, they get promoted fast to SSG and don't want to leave, so it will be significantly more competitive to even be selected to attend RASP once you're a SSG. It's very possible they won't even review your packet if you don't have a tab.

Assess for Ranger Regiment if that is your desire. The challenges you endure remain, whether it be RASP 1 or RASP 2.

Your packet WILL BE reviewed even if you don't have a tab; unless you are Combat Arms (E6 and above).

Bottom line, contact a recruiter about any concerns you have. Don't worry about attending RASP 1 or RASP 2.
