Rather than splattering it everywhere, how about not showing the terrorist's face nor mentioning his name?

CNN, MSNBC, Fox et al. have been repeating the terrorist's name and show his "I'm a cool guy" selfies. Why?
Why grant them the glory they want?
Why encourage would be losers to do the same?
The understanding is if I commit something completely atrocious the more air time I'll get. The higher the body count, the longer they'll talk about me.
Report the facts but let them be forgotten.

I completely agree. We live in an age where going viral is the thing people aspire to. This leads to a generation of copycats who want to see who can get the higher body count like it's a scorecard. Then we also have the religious extremists who can chalk this up as a "victory for the cause". I remember how disgusted I was when the marathon bomber was on the cover of rolling stone magazine and all I could hear was "god he's so hot" and "someone that cute can't be guilty". We glamorize these killers and then act surprised when some other delusional turd wants to be the next Columbine or Sandy Hook.

That's the reason initially the FBI was referring to him as "the killer" instead of by name, during their press conferences. As a way to reduce his notoriety.
