When I did my first re-enlistment, I was eligible for a bonus of 4,500, and I received all 3,300 (after taxes) together as one lump sum.
Now that I am doing my second re-enlistment, I am eligible for a bonus of 11,100 (tier 5, 60 months, 35F Airborne Position), and just received approximately 4100. I am not sure why, as 8,250 should have been the approximate bonus after a 25% tax.
This is the first I have heard of the "you will receive half your bonus now and the other half annually". Can anyone provide me the regulation to verify that statement, as I didn't receive my bonus in the past like this, or provide me any further information regarding my situation? Thanks!

Simple answer. They change the rules occasionally.
When I re-enlisted in 1998, I received 1/2 (tax free because I was in the Gulf) immediately, and then the other 1/2 spread out annually (1999, 2000, 2001). When OEF/OIF started, they changed the rules, and started doing 100% incentives.
So all that said, they may have changed the rules again. Check with finance and find the most up to date rules.

This isn't the 'simple answer'...this isn't a finance thing, it's a Army Retention/Career Counselor thing. Finance does not have oversight on the Army's Retention rules.

SGM Matthew Quick however they do handle all pay matters. He's asking a PAY question, which is related to retention. If you believe your pay is messed up, do you go to retention/career counsellor first or Payroll/Finance first? (He's already been paid part, is why I'm looking at as pay over retention)

I doubt you're currently or have ever served in the Army...it's not the same as the Marine Corps (I served in both)...although this is a bonus PAYment, it's NOT a PAY question.

SGT Allen, my last re-enlistment I got it all as a lump sum, and it was my first re-enlistment. So what you are saying it that after your first re-enlistment they are all broken down?

SGT James Allen - SFC (Join to see) during OIF/OEF "they" were doing 100% for a limited time. It was a deviation from standard policy though. I knew a few folks who got it. I was a 50%/annual guy when I reenlisted, but I knew another guy who reenlisted in 2004~ who got 100% who was in my same MOS.

I quoted info from over a decade ago when I was a re-enlistment NCO in 1993. So the info I gave was correct at the time.

You're most likely reading an outdated AR 601-280.
Recommend seeing your Career Counselor for specifics, BUT, this may be an additional obligated service (AOS) understanding problem. Bonuses are only paid on AOS, not previously obligated service (POS).
Example: If you reenlist for a 5-year contract 1 year from your ETS, your bonus will be calculated at 48 months AOS, not 60 months AOS.

So I am only going to receive a bonus for my 5 years minus whatever remaining service I had left, not the full 5 years, even though I technically re-enlisted for 5 years SGM?

ok so from the day i re-enlisted 09NOV15 to 28MAR2018 which would leave me in the 24-35 months range for a tier 5 SRB bonus of 5800 x .75 (25% tax) = 4350 which is still more that I received.
