I am an E-5 P and currently a 92F working with fuel. I chose to reclass to this MOS because it's something I'm very interested in doing and the career progression is also a plus. I'm just looking for anyone who serves or has served in this mos to give me a run down. My AIT is in NOV 2014 and I am heading to Leavenworth after that since it's now on my ERB. So any info would be great thanks and I will be heading myself no family.

From what I am told it isnt all that great. However, I've known individuals who take that experience and ETS and land them a job in the federal penal system and can still retire because you are still part of the federal government.

SGT, you are in for a different world. This is part Army and part civilian penal system. I've been doing this for the last 20 years and have enjoyed just about every minute. The retention posters used to say front line duty everyday as we at the USDB are the first line in custody and control of the most heinous offenders in the department of defense. The surrounding communities are beautiful and virtually crime free with good schools. If you more information please reach out.

Congrats, you will be a part of the best company in the brigade. I do not say that because I am a former platoon sergeant there, but because we have the highest morale, best NCOs and Soldiers (most picked to do high visability tasks and duties), highest PT score, highest college attendance rate (we have courses here in the company area that rotate around shift work), best weapons qual and we make things easier. Shift work is hard and at the upper level we protect our Soldiers. you will also find the CDR and 1SG with us more than any other unit which has to do a lot with our high morale. We do the best, expect the best and mentor the best around. Which means that as long as you listen, learn and apply, you will be successful with us. PS. I've told the 1SG to be expecting you and hold onto you if he can.

Hey srgt so I'm just a little Ole specialist but I'm debating on reclassing from 91b a light wheeled vehicle mechanic I have about a 260 pt score and a 35 on my weapons Qual I've only been in one term but I'm in an over strength mos and we'll I'll be frankly honest I got bored of Kentucky three really isn't much to do around here the only way I can stay in is to either reclass or stabilization about my only option open right now is 31E which is weird cause I actually wanted to do this occupation as a civilian if I get out I guess I'm just looking for what to expect

SSG(P) (Join to see) I just came across your message this evening. I can't tell you anything about your AIT, however, I did just return from spending 3 weeks at Ft. Leavenworth's Army Management Staff College. If you've never been I have to say it is a small but a beautiful post. The city of Leavenworth reminds me of stepping back in time about 40-50 years in appearence. It's about 45 minute drive to Kansas City, which of course you can find and do anything from Maor League Baseball (Royals), NASCAR to the National WW1 Musesum to the Argosy Casino. There is a great night-life as well. The Army's maximum security prison is at Ft. Leavenworth as well. Good luck with your New MOS and AIT and hope you enjoy your assignment. I know I would not mind going there myself. Good luck.
