Can you say a little bit more about your situation? Off the bat I would say the key points are:
- Active, reserve, or NG?
- When do you want to go college and what do you want to do in college?
- Do you still have your GI Bill?
- Are you going career? Are you in the blended retirement system or the legacy system?
- 25B is great, but have you looked at the Cyber branch and what it's counterpart might be for you as a commissioned officer?

Currently in my fourth year of ROTC and I love it. I am excited about the commissioned side of things, it suits me and my family better in the long term under the legacy system. I am on my post 9/11 and I sought out the ROTC battalion that I am currently a part of. The mental transition can be difficult for us, as E-4's to potential officers and the differences are drastic. My opinion is that I can utilize my education better as an officer, that I will be more involved in plans and decisions that affects soldiers, and more money is better than less money. It really boils down to a personality thing for me, I think I will enjoy the commissioned side better and be of better use to joes therein, so I'm going for it.Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 7 at 2018 9:42 PM2018-11-07T21:42:45-05:002018-11-07T21:42:45-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member4109081

depends on your situation and future needs...

25B isn't a super easy MOS either so you should check out the certs to see if that's rly what u wannna do...it leads to 17c or 25d with lots of places you can go within the army, not a bad mos, can lead to defense industry or dod after ur out too...it also requires clearance so comes in handy

ROTC, get commissioned obviously better money and all...

are you planning to retire with army?
do you have another skill or does ur current mos can lead to a good civilian job?

very different paths that really depends on your situation and need...im a 25b planning to go officer so shoot me a message if you got specific questionsResponse by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 7 at 2018 9:46 PM2018-11-07T21:46:52-05:002018-11-07T21:46:52-05:00Capt Daniel Goodman4109306

Try to elaborate more...prior training, assocs, bachelors, what have you done thus far? Would you be willing to go other svc, like the just restarted Navy WO1 cyber program, or the Army direct commission cyber, if you stayed Army? I gather you're IT, from what I can see, however, the more you elaborate, hobbies, interests, reading, specific STEM coursework, grades, GPAs, the more all of us can try to help you, honest...also, do you want a full 20-30 yr career? I can work afterward at an IT or cyber specialist. If I was a retired officer or O5 or above I could get a job anywhere simply because I’m an officer. Companies that work government contracts love to have high profile retired officers work for them. Go ROTC.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 14 at 2019 5:37 PM2019-02-14T17:37:09-05:002019-02-14T17:37:09-05:002018-11-07T20:12:31-05:00
