Caterina Williams 3997933 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My husband is considering reclassifying to 12P which from what I’ve read is a year long training MOS. What happens to my son and I while he’s training? (We are on the EFMP) Do we go with him since it’s so long of a training course or do we stay at our old duty station till he’s finished and is reassigned to a new base? Reclassification to 12P, looking to know what soldiers with families situation looks like? 2018-09-26T17:03:52-04:00 Caterina Williams 3997933 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My husband is considering reclassifying to 12P which from what I’ve read is a year long training MOS. If you have good support where you are and there isn&#39;t comparable support on the training base, you should be able to stay where you are. This might be a time for him to be alone until he gets the academics down. Just a consideration. I think this school is at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. If he is only considering it now, you have some time to work out the details. The school requires application packets 8 months out from the start of the course and and class size is small. Regarding the move vs staying put, that depends on the EFMP services you require and whether you are better off where you are or if Leonard Wood has the same support. You can delay your move until his follow-on assignment if you need to, even if you are currently in on-post housing.<br />As far as stress goes, sure the school sounds tough, but being separated from your family, even during a stressful course, is just more added stress. You and your son would move with him as long as your son is able to be cared for nearby. The base hospital is the only major hospital near. The next closest is in St. Louis. You need to look into what kind of care he requires and see if that can be provided at FLW. We had a guy in our class whose wife was deaf. She moved to FLW with him. I know you would be authorized to go with him, but you need to do what&#39;s best for your son.
