Reclassing into 17C from ARNG; Is it possible? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/reclassing-into-17c-from-arng-is-it-possible

BLUF: Can a Guardsman go Active by reclassing into 17C?

Forgive my poor reading comprehension skills, but I’m trying to make sense of the new reenlistment rules.

I'm a 35M in the National Guard trying to go back into active (35M is overstrengthed and I can’t go back in as one). I know by recruiting standards, I'm considered prior service, so I looked at the business rules. The rules state that for my rank, they're taking a few MOS's, but I was wondering if they meant I had to have that MOS to get back in or if the Army would let me MOS-T. The one I was looking at is 17C, which wasn’t on the business rules list, but the list came out before the MILPER message for the MOS did. The MILPER message is curiously silent on people trying to go from NG to Active (there are no 17C NG slots yet, so I can’t be both a Guardsman and a 17C). Meaning, you must already hold one of them. However, you can try reclass to 18X if you want AD bad enough. You should get in touch with your local Army Recruiter to verify. The rules change all the time. SFC Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 15 Sep 2015 21:45:25 -0400 2015-09-15T21:45:25-04:00 2015-07-28T18:38:58-04:00
