I’ve been told by multiple people it’s possible to re-enlist for Bragg being non airborne qualified, and go to airborne en-route as long as HRC or the Unit pays for it. Is this true? Reenlistment ? 2020-07-23T21:10:41-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 6132793

Fixing to re-up next month. Trying to get to Bragg. You could take the route of re-enlisting for jump school and after your return, talk to your branch manager about a possible PCS to Bragg. If you meet the time on station requirements and you are airborne qualified, I dont see why you would not be able to. Based off of your rank and mos, I'm sure there are spots available. You could always call your branch beforehand and talk to them before you pull the trigger on this. It’ll be hard to get Bragg if you’re not Airborne but it is not impossible. If there is a non-airborne position available in your MOS at the time you sit with Retention, lock it in right away because it won’t last long.
Get with your Retention ASAP, the longer you wait the least options you’ll have available to you...
Good luck!!! They might be able to get you into airborne and your choice of station. That's what I did and got both for reenlisting. Now, when I asked he did caution me bragg wasn't available for assignment (it was full for me) but that was a year ago almost. You will attend airborne school TDY enroute to your next unit. You can’t reenlist for Bragg because there are no non airborne 11B authorizations there. Only HRC can waive the airborne requirement and they don’t do that for 11B
When you reenlist for airborne you will find out what your follow on assignment is 4-6 months prior to your course start date. Also units dont want to pay for you to go to airborne. They want to pay for other schools that would benefit their already airborne soldiers. its more of a pain in the ass for the unit since you arent qualified to take part in regular unit airborne operations till you get it. I would just make sure airborne is in myorders. This is the only sure way to know you will get to an airborne unit. Also, chances are if you are airborne you will go to bragg. And if by chance you don't go with your first orders you will go on your next set of orders. a large portion of people in bragg try to leave bragg. And i can tell you from experience its kinda hard. Response by ENS Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 25 at 2020 2:13 PM 2020-07-25T14:13:40-04:00 2020-07-25T14:13:40-04:00 2020-07-23T21:10:41-04:00
