Regarding schools, if i am attending BLC in Sept and took an APFT in May, will they make me take another one for this class?

Yes most likely you will take one because it’s part of your GPA I know this cause that’s what our ALC instructors told us and I’ll be graduating soon

APFT has been suspended fue to COVID unti further notice. Normally, you will take one at BLC

Yes you would but I can’t be 100% sure as I retired in 2017 so am not sure if things changed

I would check our welcome letter from the school. These things can vary from school to school.

Depends on your class. Usually, you take a new one. The class after me didn't.

Regardless if you take one or not, the standard is all soldiers need to be ready at any time to take the PT Test.

Be prepared to take the PT test, then if you dont, then you are still meeting the Standard.

Normally, yes. However....with COVID....one never really knows anymore. Check your Welcome Letter. If it doesn't say anything there, call the NCOA you are going to.

Check with the school house and check your welcome letter. Most ARE NOT administering the APFT due to COVID and are using your most recent record APFT as long as it was this Training year. I’m going to ALC this week and do not have to take a PT test

I know when I went to BLC a couple years ago.. the first day of training was a pt test... which in my case sucked.. and I think is kinda horse shit as well. I went from fort hood texas.. elevation about 400 ft. To fort Carson which is about 6,000 ft... Lol I thought I was gonna die! But all in all, you are a soldier. A soldier should be able to pass a pt test on any given day. My main worry for you, would be if it's going to be the new PT test that they have you take and train on.

I know I'm a Marine, but every time I attended an Army school, I knew we were going to take the APFT. As long as I wasn't sick or injured, I'd be mortified if I could not put out a 1st Class APFT or Marine Corps PFT. In units I commanded, once a month we did the Marine Corp PFT as a warm up, before regular "grab-ass" PT. Anyone who failed the monthly PFT, unless they had a medical chit, was automatically required to do remedial PT six days a week, after normal working hours, until they passed the unit's regularly scheduled PFT for the record.

I really do not understand the angst over the APFT. Please explain to me how any combat unit, and particularly combat medics within that unit should NOT consider a 1st class APFT a LIGHT PT day.

Most likely your APFT on record will be used and it will be denoted in your graduation documents that you did not do height/weight or ACFT/APFT as part of the course due to covid.

This is what happened with BOLC.

As others have said just show up ready to pass height/weight/tape and pass an APFT just be sure, but most likely you won’t be doing one.

Normally, yes you would take 1-2 while in school but with COVID-19 restrictions in place, as long as you have a valid, passing APFT within 365 days of the school you do not have to take one and are still considered a pass for the school.

Smart money is just to show up ready to pass hgt/wgt/tape and APFT and roll on with the mission.

Yes, APFT, height and weight were required before these classes started and were usually on the first day, it purpose was to weed out individuals who not within the standards or guidelines before starting classes, at least it was for soldiers attending such classes. From day one, I was taught that we should always be fit and ready anytime it was required to take APFT, and to be fair to you, that was in my days of active duty. things may have changed since then. Especially if you want to be and NCO.
