Request for CID records - Ending up empty handed https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/request-for-cid-records-ending-up-empty-handed

Back in 1998 in Korea, I was stabbed in the face and neck by an unknown assailant. This was an "in the line of duty" incident. The CID Agent took multiple photos of my wounds immediately after I was released from the OR and took more over the next coming weeks.

My medical records have the emergency room documents, buts that is it.

I have repeatedly sent requests to the Army CID HQ to obtain copies of the investigation. The letters I get back tell me that there are no records.

I have the complete Line of Duty investigation report from my unit.

Can someone, anyone, help me find out what happened to my CID investigation? If it was archived, you might be able to get it by submitting a FOIA request.

That works for the investigations I'm familiar with, but that's on the counterintelligence or personnel security (clearance) side. There's a standard procedure to archive those records and you can get them by submitting a FOIA request.

Again, though, I'm not sure if CID follows the same procedures. You could try FOIA.
