A few things I have noticed that vary between reservists is a sense of discipline, safety standards, and the mission. Does anyone else notice the difference? On active duty, if you dont abide by the rules, you get hemed up. I noticed that reservists usually slide by as they only come to BTA once a month. I still think the same standards should be enforced regardless of the status they are in as we all still wear the same uniform.Reservists and Active Duty mentalities2014-11-10T14:29:16-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member320438<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was on AD for over four years and came to the reserves for a little over a year and am now on AGR still working with reservists. We often deploy together, and we are all one team, so we should expect the best from everyone -- Reservists, Active Duty, National Guard, whoever is there with us.<br /><br />The "weekend warrior" mentality was an issue that we active duty folks noticed when I was still in. I would have thought that all the deployments - of all elements - over the past ten or eleven years would have helped change that mentality among Reservists. (And I'm really not "piling on" Reservists ... just saying what I saw when I was on Active Duty.) Maybe deployments do have that effect on the Reserve component.Response by CW5 Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 10 at 2014 2:37 PM2014-11-10T14:37:08-05:002014-11-10T14:37:08-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member1351015<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think it varies from unit to unit. Sent almost 8 Yrs of my reserve time on AD. As a Senior NCO it is our responsibility to maintain the regulations, policies and procedures. every unit is different and command is different. That being said yes there has been a lack of discipline because it is only 1 weekend a month. However there are many units that are disciplined enough to always to do the right thing.
