Respect for POTUS children and wife.

While I do not particularly care for this administration, but making fun of their children is wrong and this includes any politicians. Some of the comments about First Ladies are wrong too.

Referring to the POTUS kids as anything but children and leaving it at that is the honorable thing to do. And as a last time comment, I felt Ted Kennedy's death was sad because most deaths are and this is not a party thing.

The result of this creeping disrespect is an ignoble trait of present day America and the buck stops with each and everyone of us.

What is your take? Should the kids (even adult kids) be left alone and not subject to cruelty? Is it too late for the nation to change?

The children of politicians should be left alone. They are kids, it wasn't their decision to be born to someone you or I or anyone in particular dislikes, likes, respects, doesn't care, etc. Once they turn adult and start giving their own opinions on things and make their own decisions on things, then another story, however, while they are under the care of their parents, then unless they harm someone else or break the law somehow, then they should be left alone, regardless of what political party they belong too.

The kids should definitely be treated with respect. Trashing the First Lady is a foul, too. If you must criticize something she said, keep out the ad hominem attacks and limit your criticism to ideas.

I feel that the ridicule of the children whether they are young or old, should be completely off the table. Let alone the children who are too young to comprehend the full force of the jabs and give them trauma that they will have to live with for the rest of their life. Adults should always be the example to the children of the next generation and by hurting kids, you are just teaching them that is alright to hurt others. Just because you disagree with the parent or don't like them at all, does not give you the right to hurt their children.

Cardinal rule #1 and this goes for everyone regardless if you're a politician or a janitor at Kmart.....do not ever go after someone else's children. They did ask to be born to someone whose in the spotlight. As long as they live under their parents' roof they remain off limits. Now when they grow up and start giving their own opinions then that's a whole other story. But you go after the children then you deserve all the negative publicity, ridicule and backlash that's headed your way!!!

The children are off-limits, period. That's been understood by the press and pundits alike for decades.

As a side note, I used to operate a laser tag facility in [redacted] MD. The Obama children used to have private parties there (this isn't special treatment, btw, any customer can arrange it). They'd also sometimes show up unannounced as walk-ins. Their secret service detail would come in and act casually sneaky. The first time I kinda suspected something was up, every time after that it was like "Okay, yes, cloak-and-dagger guy, I'll give you a 'tour' of the building and discuss its security as if giving an OPORDER."

The girls always brought friends from their school, along with a few chaperones and what I presume are WH staffers. WH as in Waffle House, naturally. I got the chance to talk with them and they're some of the most polite, unpresuming, well-behaved children ever. Much much better than some of the other snotnosed a-hole kids we get in there.

Playing laser tag with some armed dudes watching your every move is like the most hair-raising experience ever, by the way. PS, Secret Service cheats at laser tag.

Kids are off limits unless they are adults and the all bets are off. Wife is never off limits as some them think they are POTUS and not just the first lady and in some cases LADY is not fitting.

Of course the children should be off limits...always! As for the 1st Lady...well, if the (any) 1st Lady climbs into the political areana, pushes and supports an agenda, then all bets are off...fair game!

With the 1st Lady having immediate access to the press and media, give her a step up that others do not have. Being the 1st Lady (and like the President) does not make one always right. If they pick a position that is up popular, then disagreement should be made.

After all, supposedly...all the 1st Lady has ....is an opinion! So does everyone else.

Some of the comments on the topic are really silly. Who cares who you have respect for, if you in or was in the military you know that the POTUS is our boss and his family gets respect. No one asked when you joined the military how you felt about the orders you were given. This hate for the president is so out of control, I do not agree with some of his policies either, my option is to vote him and his party out. Some of this hate really looks suspicious and borderline not liking the guy cause of something other than him doing his job. You cannot make people love you so if I was the president I would do what I think is best and let the idiots and nut jobs do what they do.
