You only need that last year going over 20 active years to qualify for the active duty version of retirement. Otherwise you have to wait until you reach age 60 or in your 50s depending on how Congress changed it in 2008. The good news you’re in sanctuary so no matter what you can stay and get that 20th year! Retirement from them does not. You have one more year to go to hit 20 Active Army years to retire. Contact the State you were with and see if you can get a retirement points statement and that would help you to know what your AD time is. You need to find your ADSD (Active Duty Service Date). Not sure exactly where to look for the Army, but I would guess your S1 would be able to tell you where to find it. When you transfer from Reserve/National Guard to AD they recalculate your ADSD based on how much time you actually served in uniform in the Reserve/NG. I had six years active time in the 90&#39;s, then went Reserve and then came back to active in May of 2009. Once they tacked the 6 years previous active time and the actual days served on duty in the Reserve my ADSD was back dated to 16 January 2003. I&#39;ll go over 22 years for pay purposes next month, but I&#39;m not eligible to retire from Active Duty until 15 January 2023. I myself was given 8 years of active credit after 28yrs in the reserve with the last six being mobilized or on extended Active duty. so unless you deployed in those 5 years you probably do not have enough credit to = a whole year but each month can be added toward reaching your AC retirement date LTC Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 19 Jun 2020 20:03:55 -0400 2020-06-19T20:03:55-04:00 Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 20 at 2020 7:37 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/retirement--6?n=6027025&urlhash=6027025 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>mine says 37 but I only have 19 toward active retirement. you should have or get a service computation which will ensure proper active duty credit earned while the reserve component LTC Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 20 Jun 2020 19:37:27 -0400 2020-06-20T19:37:27-04:00 Response by SSG Michael Hood made Apr 8 at 2021 11:54 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/retirement--6?n=6888177&urlhash=6888177 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Was any of that 5 years on Active duty.
