One of my favorite resources has been using my local Placer County veterans services organization. They support emergency assistance, navigating benefits, health care options, and supporting vets with VA disability claims. Their staff is incredible and came highly recommended to me from a local Marine.

The best resource out there is the former military organizations: Amvets, VFW, American Legion. What we find in Veteran Service Offices is they work for the county and not the vet. You can also go to your local VA Hospital and get any assistance with paperwork, or health and well being.

I think a visit to the VA in your local area and you can see all the services available to you. I mean there are flyers, handouts, brochures, military periodicals and more items you can find all kinds of information.

My biggest resource is Bob Hope Patriotic Hall for there support for Vets and active services persons. They went way over there head to help at the time a homeless Vets get back on his feet and help me to live today. Great Job Peace & Blessing & Love!!!

If you're in Orange County then a great little help is the Anaheim VA clinic. That's where I went to register and get vaccines when I first moved close by, and that was before Covid hit. 2569 W Woodland Dr, Anaheim, CA 92801

the Nevada County veteran services office; positively fantastic service from such a small office!
They helped me file for disability, and organized other benefits like GI bill and property tax discount.

The resources available in the Golden State are more than phenomenal. Everything that one can imagine As an 84 y.o. Marine Corps/Navy Retire of 23 + years I am amazed to think all I ever needed is here!

For advanced schooling, my best resource was University of Phoenix in Murrieta, California... you can complete undergrad and graduate studies in campus or online at your own convenience. Health resource? I go to the satellite clinic of VA Loma Linda in Murrieta for outpatient needs.

After 28 years, 3 or 4 denials of responsibility, and taking my claim as high as they could. The Humboldt county VSO was able to help me overturn the multiple denials of responsibility and then help me provide evidence of a Clear and Unmistakable Error case on Higher Level Appeal. Rena, John, and the rest of the team are absolutely awesome!

I find help at out Stanislaus County VSO in filling paperwork for the VA or other needs, VA Palo Alto Heathcare system has served me well over the years and provided me a lot on information on a wide range of subject and still do.

My favorite resource is the Victorville VA Clinic. I'm able to get annual physicals, blood work, flu shots and treatment for my service connected health issues all within a short driving distance. They are very friendly, respectful and professional there.

I have found that the Dept. of Veteran Affairs' Health system in southern California provides comprehensive assistance in mental and physical health issues. They also have the ability to provide help to find other free or low cost resources for vets or active. I am a Vietnam vet and I found they are as good or better than private health insurance in every case.

I just started as a Volunteer for Meal on Wheels in North San Diego County. Disabled Vets are eligible for this service. I encourage my fellow Disabled Vets to consider this option. There are instances and circumstances that sometimes makes getting a healthy meal a challenge and this service will cover down when this becomes necessary.
