Good one! That question had never occurred to me. Frankly, I don't even understand how dual-military couples make it work. Deployments, field missions, PCSs, 24-hour duties, recalls, calls in the middle of the night regarding their joes getting in trouble... if both of you are in, you have all of those issues times two.

I wouldn't want to get involved with a service member because we just have too much baggage, lol, but that's just me. ;)

I think it's a possibility some people may have found true love on this site, you may admire someone's achievements or goals they set for them selves which may enhance your feelings toward that person and they may be just the same, some people may be attracted to people on here but feel it's a professional environment and save Facebook, EHarmony, POF, Twitter, Myspace, Etc for finding love.

No, never would either.
I wasnt in the Army too too long, 4 years with 2 deployments, but I saw a innumerable amount of divorces, re-marriages, and spousal infidelity. Dual-Military was usually the worst.... but you see it with Civilian-Military marriages too. Its like everyday I get to come in to work, and hear about who is getting a divorce.... Love is something that i truly believe the military is great at breaking, I have seen it happen way too much....

Thought, if you are a young male soldier at Ft. Campbell KY and you are looking for girls, use POF, OKC, and Tagged. Lots of girls on there. Tindr is awesome in college town's but i bet it isn't that good at Ft. Campbell though.

Lol my squad leader showed me how to pick up girls off those sites. Fun times, makes me miss the Army......

LOL i fondly remember how my friends and I would be drinking beer and chain smoking in front of the barrack's every day after COB, and we would use each other's phones to talk to girls (It was a contest, you used your buddy's account with his picture, but you messaged the girls. If your messages got your buddy hooked up, he owed you a case of beer)

Again though, I was a young private at the time.

Nope! I did the old fashioned military approach to romance. I traveled around the world twice before finding my wife. After 10 min of sharades and very horrible translation she figured out I was asking her to dance. A little after this I went on a tour to Macedonia where I bought her a ring, asked her to marry me in a letter in three different languages, then took her to a country foriegn to both of us to get married.

I wouldn't be surprised if there have been romances that would originate on RallyPoint, as people have a central means of connecting and, quite frankly, people nowadays meet anywhere. I personally cannot say that I have, but that does not mean it cannot happen.

I think the only issue with this is as you get promoted your dating pool shrinks. Would I get in trouble for putting on a profile: I only want to date Officer or Warrant females because I don't want to get into a problem with UCMJ? Would that get me angry emails like the ones I got when I said I preferred women who were active and I had couch potatoes biting my head off?

I guess I am just not into the whole online thing. I'd have to meet someone in person to really feel like there was a connection. I am kind of tired or people using every comms method to attempt to date. I used to use Skype for work when I lived overseas and I got constant messages from random guys looking to hook up. It's frustrating. I would hate to see RP turn into that. I enjoy the fun topics, but I don't want my inbox full of winks and pokes or whatever.

PV2 Lisa Wilcox, you have asked a very good question. I have been married for the last 29 1/2 years to the same lady I met in high school. We have been to exotic locations around the world (Ft Polk) and we have seen the two seasons per year in Alaska (winter and between winter). Sunny south Florida. And Germany and Colorado. Here is how I see things breaking down. There will be many who are actually going to be looking for a FWB type situation because they have a wife/husband at home. I loved all my brothers and sisters I served with but there is no way I could have married a woman I. The military. Someone mentioned PCS issues. That is the biggie. Of course here I think more are vets and retirees so that may not be an issue. If I were single I would post a introduction like this:

I'm a Ranger qualified National Guard Infantry Officer looking for someone to be more than a Weekend Warrior. I enjoy long walks through the woods and swamps, with a ruck sack. I need someone that can provide cover for my six and I would cover theirs if needed. I would only ask that you maintain the five principles of patrol on our excursion into the unknown. No. Not looking for romance here. But anything is possible. Just dont be on here trying to fraternize with commissioned or noncommissioned officers while you are junior enlisted. Stick to your pay grade to avoid sticky situations.

RP has an extended version of Social Networking through these forums and others. Networking has all kinds of useful extensions.
I'm not convinced the intention of RP was to end up being considered as a place to "meet" a future love interest.
That being said, we all share unique experiences in being current or former Service Members. Those experiences come with a series of things that only fellow current or former Service Members understand, loathe, appreciate, or find humorous.
Those examples then tend to discover familiarity, and through familiarity, we find some instant comfort and trust that we may not bestow to the general "civilian" population.
There's nothing wrong with any of those things, but I've found its usually best to keep those trains of thought in a professional arena.
If you are looking, or have already found such interests or relationships here, we wish you the best, again, because each member here has earned our respect through their service, and that equates to my personal desire for each of you to be happy in life.
If you haven't found such an interest, or aren't looking, like any basic premise that you've been taught, keep putting your best foot forward, the rest falls into place a little easier after that!

I have not met my significant other here on RallyPoint...I've seen a few very pretty females, but not met a partner. Not saying that I wouldn't be open to the possibility however I don't believe that the majority of single females here on RallyPoint would be compatible with me.
