RP upgrade suggestion

This website is constantly making improvements to itself and I thought I'd chip in with my own suggestion.

For people that have been on the site for a while now a lot of us have probably answered A LOT of threads. As it stands now there are only three ways to sort answers to a topic (newest, oldest, votes). I think it would be nice to implement a feature that would allow you to filter the responses in a way to show your answer to a thread if you've made one.

Some threads have over a hundred responses, and it would be nice to have a quick feature in place to be able to determine if you've already responded to that topic, and if you have then to provide the convenience of being able to go directly to your response instead of having to sift through.

Edit: SPC Matthew Farnsworth had an excellent idea that he posted below. That being to allow users to set which filter setting they'd like the default to be. Some people like to view the highest rated comments first, some like to read the newest responses. Allowing users to set their preferred option as a settings choice would be fantastic aid to convenience.

I'd also like to see the ability to sort the discussions by newest/oldest as well (not just comments within the discussions) as it is now if you miss a day or two you may never see a thread that interests you.

Also if there isn't already; include an option to change the default (votes) to another selection based on what you like. For example; I like to read what other people have written before responding to a post so I would like to have the default as oldest first.

LTC Yinon Weiss CPT Aaron Kletzing This seems to have unanimous support from all those who've voted and posted. Would this be a difficult feature to implement?

All the features suggested are features found on a conventional online forum. I like RP, but it seems they're trying to reinvent the wheel with the format the now have.

1. Know right away if you have responses in a given thread.

2. Jump to the portion(s) of the thread you've participated in

Are these accurate? I want to make sure I understand your goals before thinking about solutions.

If you could make one change to Rallypoint what would it be? and why? RP admin team is and does monitor this thread so your voice/writing here will be heard/read. A few changes have already happened due to user feedback so keep it coming. In the last few months there have been numerous changes made and this site has become even better and more user friendly. I truly believe that the changes were made based off of feedback form the community....
